A chronograph measures the feet per second (FPS) of the BB fired. If you have a fully automatic weapon, a chronograph also measures the rate of fire (ROF). You could try using a stop watch, exact measurement of distance, lightning fast reflexes, and a second person with exceptional math skills to find FPS and ROF. However, even using all of these things, you’re still going to get a more accurate measurement from a chronograph.
