Tactical Gear in an Airsoft Event

At an event, Tactical gear is just as crucial as your airsoft guns. Not being properly outfitted for the event is asking for nothing but trouble. Below, we’re going to go over some of the basics you’ll need when it comes to tactical gear.

When it comes to vests, you need to find something that is comfortable and also has extra storage for all of your equipment. Some items can be tied to your vest. If you do so, make sure that they’re not dangling loosely, which could affect your ability to move quietly in certain circumstances.

Plate carriers are especially effective for close quarters combat in an airsoft event. If you take a close range shot from any kind of assault rifle, a plate carrier can mean the difference between just knowing you’ve been hit and ending up with bruising. But that plate carrier means nothing without plates in them. The good news is that for an airsoft event, some sturdy corrugated cardboard can make all the difference. Most plate carriers are also have MOLLE webbing to allow magazine, general purpose, medical, grenade, radio, and other pouches to be easily attached to increase your tactical advantage.

A holster is a requirement for a sidearm. The important thing to remember about your holster is that you need to be able to reach your sidearm quickly and easily while still keeping the sidearm secure under stressful environments or transportation. Some players prefer shoulder holsters, while others prefer belt holsters. Some players will also use a leg holster, which tends to be easier to draw from if you’re in a crouched position.

You’ll also need a gun sling for your main rifle. This creates an easier carry and a quicker draw while shooting. You’ll want to decide if a one-point, two-point, or three-point would be appropriate for you.

Make sure that you have at least two magazine pouches. One you would use for full mags and the other should be a dump pouch for magazines that you’ve pulled. If you’re using a shotgun, you’ll need to have a reload pouch as well. There are also specialty pouches to hold things like your flashlight and speed loader.

For your belt, you’ll want to choose something that goes beyond just holding up your trousers. Belts allow for more storage, and is a great place for your sidearm and extra magazines. There are other harnesses that you should also have. The more stuff you can carry without an additional bag, the better off you’ll be. But still make sure that you don’t have too much stuff that will keep you from moving fluidly or cause too much noise.

Many airsoft players forget about something very basic: protecting their hands. That’s exactly what tactical gloves are for. They allow for a full range of movement and many are also armored for additional protection. It’s up to each individual player as to whether to use full or fingerless gloves.

Your clothing needs to work with the location and surroundings in which you’ll be immersed. You have to choose whether you’re going to need camouflage. If so, what kind of camo will you need? If you’re running night ops, you need to be able to dress for that as well. At any airsoft event, the first priority should be safety. You’ll need to decide if you want clothing with padding built in or separate pieces for your padding. Make sure that you stay covered and stay safe.

If you’re looking for the best concealment in your environment, you’ll need a ghillie suit. It makes you part of the forest, which gives you the best cover possible. Many even come with extra material to give your airsoft gun coverage as well.
